Delivery Trip - "JAZZ" from FT. Meyers to Titusville, FL

6/9/2007 - Saturday - We made our road trip from Oviedo, FL to FT Meyers to provsion and get the boat ready. After fuel, water, ice and settling up with the marina we were ready. Light winds Saturday night and warm. Sunday we were off to Marco Island and had a good sail down the coast. Fishing was good and caught a kingfish which made our dinner special. Ducked in behind Pineapple Island. Next day we headed South and were going to head in around Cape Sable but decided to go for it and made a course for Marathon. Florida Bay was like glass - no wind. Wemade our way under power with the dolphins playing in our bow wave. Made Marathon about midnight and anchored just out of channel at 7 mile bridge. Next day to Marathon to re-provision and had a great fresh Mahi sandwich at Burdines restaurant. Got fuel, water and booze and headed out and up Hawks channel to Long Cay. Wind was blowing into anchorage so we anchored a little South in the lee of the island in about 8 foot of water. Next day up Hawks Channel, fishing trolling a Johnson spoon. Caught a 10# Cuda - great fight on the hand line. Made Key Biscayne by late afternoon. Made way in North side of channel by lighthouse to No Name Harbor. Trouble here with anchor setting so went back out and anchored just off channel. Next day outside past Miami, FT. Lauderdale and made Lake Worth Inlet. Stopped at Sailfish Marina and bunkered fuel and water. Made way in channel under bridge and anchored just off city park. Good holding and 9' of water. Next day back out channel and outside to FT. Pierce. In FT. Pierce Inlet and up ICW to Grant, FL. Anchored just off channel and went in to the Crab House and had a great feast of blue crabs, beer and live entertainment. Next day made way up ICW and arrived Titusville about 2:00 PM. Jan and Kate were the welcoming party for Matt and I. 7 days...what a trip. Great to be home but ready to do it again!
